Hello again my favourite chums and chumps!
Construction Progress
You all want to know what I've been up to no doubt.....ok, I'll tell you! Are you sitting comfortably?....then I'll begin.

I
removed all of the level 2 baseboards so I could have full access to
the lowest level and I got stuck into producing the storage yard and
associated point work
and running lines. The first section I tackled was the curve
approximately half way along the yard. I decided to make the main lines
and the
through yard curves removable as I did with the return loop area
previously. The track work
here is bolted into position but can be lifted clear in just a couple
of minutes for maintenance or access. You can see some shots of the
area with foam trackbed sheet laid and the track work installed. I couldn't resist a little mock up with a few locos and coaches.....the Peak on Pullmans is especially for you Wibble!

So
far I have laid another 35ft of track and I am starting to lay the foam
roadbed ready for the main sections of the yard and the access road
from the mainlines. All is going very well and I'm confident I'll not
have too many issues laying the rest of the flat track work. Once this is all down I will start work on the 3 separate
gradients taking lines to and from the
Docks and to the additional storage yard which will sit above the
return loop area. I know I need to produce a sketch to show you all
what I'm planning but if I spend time on that I may not meet my end of
year deadline. You'll see it in all it's glory eventually and I'm sure
everything will make sense once the track is all laid.
I found out yesterday that Kernow Models of Cornwall have commissioned a limited edition model of the LSWR push-pull Gate Stock which will be perfect for use with a small tank loco such as a M7 or an O2. I've pre-ordered a BR (SR) green set which should arrive some time in 2013 by which time I'm hoping to have a suitable bay platform and branch line to run it on......Hellfire! Just don't tell Mrs Corky I've pre-ordered something else or I'll be in for a particularly frosty spell at Jones Towers! I thought a set in an earlier livery may be ideal for use with your M7 Mr Lyons.....perfect for East Devon eh?
I have had some difficulty locating a supplier for another batch of Blue-Point switch machines so I eventually ordered another 10 with associated fitting kits from a supplier in the US of A.......Oh My Lords!! Hopefully I'll have them in a couple of weeks just as I'm working on the wiring for the storage yards. As for my long awaited class 22's (NBL Type 2s to be absolutely correct for my time period) although a single version has been released, it's not one of the locos I'm waiting for. I hope a pair of these cute little scamps will finally arrive before Christmas so I can watch their lovely little spoked wheels turning as they trundle around the yards whilst girding their loins ready for the assault on the gradients and helix with a set of loaded milk tanks or the Risegate parcels.......Hellfire!

New Arrivals on the Corkscrew
There have only been a few small purchases lately - mainly the odd length of timber and some adhesives. You'll see from the photos a couple of die-cast vehicles, one of which - the Walls van, was a birthday gift from Lord & Lady Dowsby.....thanks Guys. You'll also note that I've invested in another batch of my favourite track laying tools. Sarah thinks it's acceptable, for some inexplicable reason, to take these from me without consultation and eat the contents....unbelievable! How am I supposed to lay a mainline when that happens.....it's a disgrace I tell you!
European Nedding Highlight of
the Week
Our final visit to Zurich and I'm concentrating in particular on the buses and trams. Our hotel for the few nights we were in Switzerland was located next to the tram terminus at Seebach which was a happy coincidence (for me!!) and the trams could be seen from our hotel window. You'll also see the extremes of the city's buses. A tiny single decker at the tram terminus and a monster double bendy trolleybus in the city. I took far too many shots of the trams which I found absolutely fascinating but I've managed to choose a selection which I hope you'll enjoy.

In the next thrilling instalment...
I'm not sure how many more updates there will be as I am still considering setting up a website and sharing the Corkscrew-Lines with the World......if it's ready for me!!! I expect next time I'll show you the weird and wonderful locos of the Italian state railway I encountered earlier this year and share some more domestic preservation highlights from recent years. Hopefully I'll still be making good progress on the storage levels and I'll still be on target for completing them by the end of the year.
That's all for now my folks......Keep safe and keep in touch
