So What are the Corkscrew-Lines?

This section refers to the Corkscrew-Lines mk1 which is now dismantled.  This section will be updated as the mk2 version is constructed.

Welcome to the Corkscrew-Lines - my model railway layout....simple as that!

Actually, there is nothing simple about the Corkscrew-Lines.  The layout was started about 3 years ago and completely fills a double garage with baseboards on 4 separate levels all linked by a huge double track helix.  This is a lifetime layout and so far I've just managed to complete the skeleton with baseboards and the first turns of the helix finished.

Corky!
One thing I decided early on was the layout must be modular.  So far in my life I have moved house 13 times and it now looks like another move is on the cards sometime within the next 12 months.  I was determined nothing would be destroyed if the layout had to be moved so everything is bolted together and all baseboards are self contained regarding wiring and lighting with connectors used to join them.  The requirement for 4 levels of baseboard meant I had to think creatively if the whole thing was to be transportable.  I managed this but boy there were some headaches along the way.

Check out the photos below for a rough idea of how things currently stand.  You'll find full details of the entire build and some adventures away from the layout on the real railway in the blog pages.  If you like what you see then I hope it inspires you to have a go at something similar yourself.  Don't forget this is a solo project.....yes, I must be mad!
